THE VILLAGE
In a tiny village
Miles of humdrum lowlands
A dozen needy farmers
Live a life of gloomy feelings
They just hope the day will end soon
A day without much trouble
In the winter they want summer
In the summer they want winter
And no one dared
To sing the song
That buzzes in their heads
In their own village
On their own
On their own planet
On their own
We cannot afford to celebrate our lives
We’ll start to really live only when we’re no more here
In a snowy sullen day
When everyone is sleeping
Some fellows got fed up
With the pointless endless silence
They took out all their goodies
And the wine they kept for rainy days
They perched at the central square
Left a gift on every doorstep
And then they sang
The song
The song was loud
